Hunt Monster Wins with The Wildwood Curse Slot

Old-school monsters are less scary and more like the weird neighbours you’d avoid at a block party. Dracula is basically that guy who insists on telling you about his “wine collection,” but it’s just… blood. Frankenstein’s monster? The poor guy is just one bad haircut away from looking like every gym bro who skips leg day. And Swamp Thing? He’s not terrifying, he’s just what happens when you fall asleep during a spa mud wrap and wake up 20 years later.
In that tradition of the old-school monsters, Hacksaw has revealed its first horror slot in the lead-up to Halloween 2025 with the release of The Wildwood Curse slot.
A curse or a blessing?
The Wildwood Curse slot features 19 paylines spread across five reels. Betting starts at $0.10 a spin and goes up to $35 a spin, giving you a shot at winning $350,000 thanks to the 10,000x max multiplier. The slot has medium to high volatility and offers an RTP of 96.3%.
In both the base game and during free spins, any wild symbol that appears on the reels will trigger Nightmare Respins. When this happens, the triggering wild(s) lock in place while the reels respin, with any additional wins awarded. If more wilds land during a respin, they too lock in place and award another respin. This continues until no new wilds are added.
If four wild symbols appear during Nightmare Respins in a 2Ă—2 formation, they transform into a Cursed Cluster, which can feature one of three bonus effects:
- Psycho Cluster: Gains a random multiplier value that increases with each spin it’s part of, as long as it contributes to a winning combination.
- Monster Cluster: Spreads multipliers to random positions across the reels.
Twin Cluster: Works like the Psycho Cluster, but its multiplier value doubles with each winning combination it’s involved in.
Three FS scatter symbols trigger a round of The Swamp free spins, awarding eight spins with a higher chance of wilds landing. Four FS scatters trigger The Playground free spins, awarding 10 spins with an increased chance of landing Cursed Clusters. Finally, five or more FS scatters trigger the No Escape free spins, guaranteeing at least one Cursed Cluster.
The slot also gives you the option to buy a round of either The Swamp or The Playground free spins, but No Escape free spins can only be triggered the old-fashioned way.
Is The Wildwood Curse slot another Hacksaw classic?
The Wildwood Curse slot is another strong addition from Hacksaw. The features are solid, and the graphics are top-notch, as always. That said, I do think the animation could have been better. A big part of monster horror is the way creatures move, and while the monsters in this slot are brought to life with some incredible illustration, they feel a little empty without that movement. Overall, I’d give it an eight out of ten.
If you’re looking for a few other Halloween-inspired slots from Hacksaw, I suggest SixSixSix, Immortal Desire, and Klowns.
