Wild Classic Slot is All About Nostalgia

Nostalgia is that magical brain glitch where you suddenly miss the “good old days,” even though those days included dial-up internet, cameras that needed actual film, and phones that plugged into the wall. It’s like your memory hired a PR team to airbrush all the bad bits, so now you’re convinced life was better when you were rewinding VHS tapes and blowing into game cartridges to “fix” them.
While indulging in nostalgia can sometimes ruin a cherished childhood memory, it can also give a modern classic an interesting twist. This is what Platipus was likely aiming for with its new Wild Classic slot, but did they succeed? BitStarz players have an exclusive chance to be the first to try the slot, which is featured exclusively until 21 August.
Going back to Game Boys and Walkmans
The Wild Classic slot from Platipus features 5 fixed paylines. Betting starts at just $0.20, with a maximum limit of $290. If you’re betting at the upper limit, you could win up to $365,400, thanks to the 1,260x maximum multiplier. The slot has low to medium volatility, meaning wins are more frequent but generally smaller. The RTP is 96.07%.
If you’re expecting a multi-feature video slot, this isn’t the game for you. The Wild Classic slot is a throwback to a time when features were scarce and graphics were simple.
The most prominent of the slot’s few bonus features is the Wild symbol. It substitutes for any base symbol to complete or enhance a winning combination and only appears on reels two, three, and four. If a Wild symbol is part of a winning combination, it will expand to cover the entire reel on which it appears.
The only other bonus feature in Wild Classic is a pair of Scatter symbols. Landing three or more blue Scatters awards a multiplier applied to your bet amount. Three symbols award a 3x multiplier, four award a 20x multiplier, and five award a 100x multiplier. The pink Scatter appears only on reels one, three, and five and awards a 20x multiplier when three or more land.
Is the Wild Classic slot capturing that 80s gambling magic?
When I talk about slot classics, they’re always three reels. So when you try to pull at my nostalgia strings with a new slot release, I expect either a theme that drives that home or a three-reel format. Wild Classic doesn’t seem to do either particularly well, with no strikingly nostalgic theme and a five-reel format. I did like the simple, solid gameplay, and the interesting use of multipliers with the Scatter symbols did momentarily pique my interest. However, for me, there wasn’t much to keep me around. I give the Wild Classic slot a six out of ten.
If you’re looking for a few other Platipus slots to try out, I recommend Hallowin and 1000 x Rush.
